Peggy Shinner is the author of You Feel So Mortal/Essays on the Body, which was longlisted for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay and included in Flavorwire’s “25 Great Books You Might Have Missed in 2014.” Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Paris Review, BOMB, LitHub, Colorado Review, Fourth Genre, Salon, and elsewhere.
The recipient of a Pushcart Prize, the Michael Steinberg Memorial Essay prize from Fourth Genre, and two Illinois Arts Council fellowships, she splits her time between Chicago and northern New Mexico. Her new collection, Shamewreck, is out from Ohio State University Press/Mad Creek Books/21st Century Essays in winter 2027.
